Kickstands
In my day, we had these things. They were called kickstands. And if you didn't use them, your folks burnt your bike at the next bon fire, and banned you to your room with no food for a month.

Okay, this is a joke, right? Bikes *do* still come with kickstands, don't they? And kids still just throw their bikes down like they have for ages, right? (Not that I ever did such a thing...)

Its a shame with modern technology and all that they got rid of kickstands.
