He cleans up nice, don't you think?

We went and ordered a couple of suits, shirts and ties for the IT God a couple of week ago and picked them up last weekend. I must say, he looks pretty good don't you think? I need to get some more pictures of him when we are not in the store though. He'll be wearing my favorite combination to the Christmas party tomorrow night.

There is no way around it

I think that any parent will say that there is always some amount of sibling rivalry for any family containing more than one child. Mine are no exception. One of the things they worry most about is that the other child will get more attention or WHATEVER than the other. I remember having to carefully dole out the snacks, or cereal or "fill in the blank" and always having one shout out indignantly "SHE GOT MORE THAN ME!" Yes honey, it's obvious I love her more than I love you so get over it already.

This irritating rivalry would also include how much time I spend alone with each child. I've always valued the one-on-one time I spend with the girls. I believe it is important to spend some quality time with each child. But for the love of Paul and all that his holy, don't let me spend more time with one child than the other. Don't let me go shopping with one, and not include the other. I know that it all works out in the end but it's difficult to get the children to believe that. Again with the "you love her more than you love me." Of course I respond with my usual retort, "Why yes I do, do you have a problem with that?" Ok, not really but I was tempted.

I love both of my children equally, but differently, if that makes any sense. Chickie and Meelie have personalities that are different than night and day. I don't favor either one of them, but sometimes it's difficult to make them see that. They are both so unique and both have the power to drive me bat-poop crazy, but I wouldn't have it any other way.

That brings us to tonight. Meelie and I are going shopping. Just like Chickie and I did, only to some different stores. They have a need to pick out the absolute perfect gift for each other and the desire to spend some of their hard earned cash.

With that, I will publish this post and head on out the door. Chickie is at dance and my beloved IT God is running some errands, so I am all hers.

I am really looking forward to it.

What are your experiences? Won’t you share them with me?

Where did the time go?

First off, I want to thank you for all of your get well wishes. They really made me feel special and I'm sure they sped up my recovery. I'm nearly at 100%, but am a bit tired tonight after a full days work. Last week I had promised Chickie that we would go shopping together, and tonight was the first night I felt up to it. Have you ever shopped with a picky teenager? You haven't LIVED until you have experienced that, let me tell you.

I am glad to be home. The shopping expedition was successful, though there were many times I wished long and hard that there was a bar in the mall. Darn these small towns anyway.

That being said, I will keep this short and perhaps go to bed a bit early tonight. My beloved IT God has kindly offered to do the bedtime routine tonight and at this very moment, I hear my pillow calling my name. "DUDE! You really need to get in here BEFORE you fall asleep at the computer, AGAIN!" Yes, I have issues, and talking objects piled on my bed are only the tip of the iceberg.

Enough, she says! I was going to make this post short. I'm not entirely certain that feat is in my realm of capabilities. Without further ado, I present to you "St. Mary's Tree Lighting Cermony."

Enjoy!

Short and sweet

The tree lighting ceremony was held downtown tonight. Chickie danced both in the parade and on stage. I hope the pictures came out.

It appears that I have the flu. I ache. I get really hot, then really cold. My eyebrows hurt. My skin is sensitive.

So it's off to bed with me and my Advil. And lots of covers. Until the next hot flash hits.

Two children for sale

No warranty.

I took the kids and their friends to the mall on Black Friday (I know, how stupid am I?) just to kind of hang, and look around as well as get gift ideas for Christmas the holiday season Christmas.

We stopped off and got some ice cream before we headed back home. Some of you may remember that Chickie got her braces off in June and now wears retainers. To keep this short I will NOT go into how she has "lost them" a few times (we always found them) or anything like that. But nothing beats what I am about to tell you.

After eating the ice cream, the girls all threw their napkins away. Internet? Do you see where this is going? We got about half way down the mall and Chickie exclaimed."Uhoh." I can see that some of you parents out there are shuddering because that term, along with "Oops" are things you DON'T want to hear from your child's mouth when you are not in the room. Especially if it follows a loud crash.

Chickie immediately said "I'll be right back" and the other three girls followed her. I patiently waited, counting the diamond shaped tiles beneath my feet and praying that it was not something that involved shoplifting. I was relieved once I saw them all heading back to me with smiles on their faces. Situation calm. Everything is ok, and I really didn't want to ruin the moment by asking them what was going on. As it turns out, I didn't have to wait long.

On the drive back home, as heard from the back seat:

Chickie: I accidentally threw my retainers in the trash can. Can you believe it? I had wrapped them up in a napkin and threw them away with my other napkin. I had completely forgotten about it until we were walking away.

Me:... (I could not speak at this moment because my head was on fire)

Chickie:Luckily, I remembered. Oh man, Mom would have KILLED me

Me:Thinking - or made you eat lima beans, which would be a fate worse than death.

Chickie:I made Meelie fish them out for me.

Me:Meelie, why did you agree to that?

Meelie:Moooom, I'm the good sister, remember?

How quickly we parents forget.
