I've attached a couple of videos that I was going to add to yesterday's post, but Vimeo apparently had some heavy traffic and it was taking a lot of time to convert them. Both of these are from the competition yesterday.
Before everything started, the sponsors of the competition brought out some of the girls who were a little farther along in their gymnast capabilities "show their stuff" (Cheer Camden team members). Meelie, a newcomer (she started in June) seems to be catching on fast. As her mom, I'm alternately thrilled and terrified at some of the things she is doing. I apologize for the lack of quality and visibility on both of these videos. I took these on my digital camera. Next time, I'm I'll bring the video recorder.
Note: I've found that if you click on the title of the video it will give you a large screen which provides you with better visibility.

This next one shows their actual performance. It's only partially complete. The was an opportunity for them to get some practice performing in front of a big crowd. You can see all of the cheer leaders from various teams sitting on the bleachers. All of the parents and family members were on the other side, and let me tell you, we were all squeezed in like a bunch of sardines. The coaches let Meelie make the decision about whether she wanted to do a double or a triple for this competition. She had only just mastered the triple, but wasn't entirely comfortable with it. In the beginning, she is in the group, second from the right, on the left hand side, facing towards the center. When you see the camera move, look for Meelie. That's who I'm trying to capture. She nailed the triple!

We've got a busy day ahead of us. Chickie and I need to pick up a leotard, fedora and white Oxford shirt for an upcoming performance during the "Tree Lighting" ceremonies downtown. It really kills me that we have to shell out even more money considering the amount we have to pay for tuition and costumes. Good thing we only have two kids. After we finish that, I need to take Meelie to a going away party for two of the girls (sisters) on her team. I'll be sad to see them go as I am good friends with their mom.
All in all, it has been a busy weekend, but a very enjoyable one.
