We got this

garagebefore.jpg

To take care of this

And everything in between. It's the beginning of the Great Home Improvement Project, herein, known as GHIP. We are doing it ourselves, with a little help/advice from some friends. My husband told me that if I didn't agree, he would plant spiders in every available place in the house. So you see? I had no choice. I so wanted to hire it done, but I was overruled. Ignore the fact that it is tons less expensive to do-it-yourself than to hire it done. Please people, let us not confuse the issue with facts.

Chant with me people. "It will be worth it when it's done. It will be worth it when it's done." I can't HEAR you! I'm not too ashamed to admit that I will blog for free labor.

Below, is the obligatory picture of one of the "kids." Bruiser at his finest. Siesta time! I would love to join him but unfortunately, I have a freaking garage to clean out and that's just the start of the pain.

I can totally relate to the hard work and home improvements...sux while you're in it but IT WILL BE WORTH IT WHEN IT'S DONE! lol...we got alot done here last month on the main floor, painting..repairs..removing revolting wallpaper from last owner that I just left there for the last 6 yrs since buying this house etc ...but...we then wanted to remove wallpaper from every surface in the downstairs bathroom...to find major problems hiding...so what started out being just a paint job, ended up being a totally gutted out bathroom down to the stud walls...and even some jack happer work into the concrete floor !!! Everything...EVERYTHING is out of there...and the toilet and vanity are sitting square in the middle of my family room downstairs! ......We have pruchased everything we need to redo it..ditched the old bathtub (was picked up within 24 hours by a salvage struck) and we plan on putting in a nice corner shower unit.......anyway...hopefully all will get done eventually. My husband isn't afraid of hard work, he was the one to do all the hard work so far but he isn't a construction expert, so we are at the mercy of a very busy friend of ours who knows what he's doing. .....I posted pics of the gutted bathroom on my blog a few posts back...looking forward to the finished product photos in my future lol.
I guess all my bla bla blabbing here is to say...GOOD LUCK ...I AM ROOTING FOR YOU! LOL

Oh, I have to show that to my father - we have the same problem! :)

I can identify. We had a rummage sale in August to help empty out the basement. I think I need a dumpster; there's still too much junk in the house. And it WILL be worth it when it's all done.

I could have used one of those when we moved house!! And I feel your DIY pain. Speaking of which, are you any good at building indoor partition walls? :)

You've reminded me that I need to get my butt in gear on some renos of our own. It's time. Actually, it's long past time. But life keeps getting in the way...

Visiting from Michele's. This time. I hope you had a great week and are feeling better as the weekend dawns. You WILL be taking breaks, right?

a) it will be worth it when it is finished and
b) you don't know the counter gambits to "I'll put spiders everywhere"??
Check out the handbook -- it's in there.. you did get issued the "how to get what you
want" handbook when you got married, didn't you?

Michele sent me, but I chose to say this by myself. (She might not approve of my
talking about the handbook in public)

As this is the second time you missed me from Michele, I thought to visit you instead and also look up what takes!!

Um, yeah. Brad told me our bedroom/bathroom remodel would be done in three months. That was nine months ago and it's still not done.

Good luck with that.

that's a big dumpster--as for your garage, you could ask what's the problem, you did, after all, have a path through the stuff. Take care and remember this too shall pass. Here from Michele's.

A lot of people will be passing by and adding to that dumpster.
