When you're strange,
Faces come out of the rain,
When you're strange.
No one remembers your name,
When you're strange,
When you're strange,
When you're strange.**

Since the recent hacking of my site, and subsequent upgrade in MT, I suddenly find myself unable to upload photos to my blog. In order to to minimize my annoyance and lower my blood pressure, I thought I would take a look around and see what was going on in the real world. You know the one I'm talking about? Where you are not staring at a monitor trying to figure out something to write?

  • While I may not be able to upload photos, this poor woman can't take any. That would drive me nuts because I have become one with my camera. The sad part is, my children are so used to me carrying a camera around they don't even notice. I have to hand it to her, she is handling it much better than I would.
  • I was saddened to learn of this man's passing today. He was a newsman of strong opinion but he never let that opinion get in the way of what he saw. May God grant peace to his wife and family during their time of grief.
  • The break up of this couple doesn't really surprise me, nor does the "mini-trend" mentioned in this article. I wonder why that is?
  • In the blogging world, we had a near disaster with a specially designed costume (why do children have to grow anyway?), that was conquered with sheer brilliance and talent of a needle and scissors. I'm lucky if I can sew a button on straight. Is that dinosaur not the third cutest child you have ever seen?
  • My youngest daugher is busily snapping photos of pretty much everything she sees. Some of them are me. It's a shame I can't upload, isn't it? Thank you God.

And on that note, I think I will close this post. Mainly, because it really doesn't have a point. It's also because Meelie has somehow managed to take all of the dirt from the outside, and carefully spread it all around her cute little self. I wonder if Mr. Clean's Magic Eraser will help?

**Three points to the person who can name the song and the artist in the first part of this post.

Hi I'm here by of Michele's...

Here from Michele.
It does seem every time you upgrade or install a new software or hardware, something goes haywire. At least you didn't throw away the system folder like my dad did on his first computer. I left him alone with it for 30 minutes and he tossed it. The computer wouldn't even start and I had to take it in to the repair guys.... second time.... changed settings. Dad can add but cannot subtract any more.

And there's nothing the Magic Eraser can't do! Is there?

Good luck with the photo-uploading!! Happy weekend... Michele sent me today!

I know this was the Doors, as well as later by Echo and the Bunnymen, amongst others, but I think I'll prefer Emily Strange.

And Hello, Michele sent me!

A pox on the hackers who have taken away your pictures from us.

Coincidentally, I was in a car with a colleague in Toronto yesterday, listening to this very song while tooling down the Don Valley Expressway.

Sometimes, I get weirded out by coincidences like this.

Such fun!

I think it's the Echo and the Bunnymen version of "People are Strange"

That blows that someone hacked your site. Karma will get them.

Sorry to hear that your blog was hacked... but I enjoyed reading the lyrics to the Door's song--was singing it in my head as I read the lines. Here from Michele.

Posted by: sade at November 12, 2006 3:02 PM

Hey....that really sucks about your pics. I'll have to go back and read your last week as I have been remiss.

I have mulled this over for a few days, and the results have inspired me. I've wondered what I would do if I could not take pictures.

Like someone who loses one of the senses, we compensate. If I can't shoot, I use words to fill in the gaps, to describe using my vocabulary what I cannot with my lens.

I need to think about this some more. For now, consider me inspired.
