Algebra. Gak! Pffffttt!!!

It has been a while since I have wrestled with Algebraic equations. I just spent the better part of an hour working with Chickie on her Math homework. It all came back, but it took a bit of concentration, and dust removal from the recesses of my brain, or what is left of it. Of course, we made an executive decision that a couple of scoops of double fudge ice cream would really help her understand better. Desperate times, desperate measures and all of that.

I really love Algebra, unless it is word problems. Ask my Dad. He spent countless hours helping me on them, and to this day I still struggle with it. I love formulas. I love numbers. They come pretty easy to me, so I find myself having to step back a few paces when I'm helping my daughter comprehend it. And I've learned what patience is all about. Just because it makes sense to me, doesn't mean that she automatically gets it. I've had to be creative in teaching her. It's good for me. And it's good for her.

By the time we were done, she really had it down pat. For today anyway.

For the record? She finished 7 of the missing assignments. The remaining three are reading assessments which will take a couple of days to complete because they are a bit more complicated.

Now, if the lesson from this weekend will just stick, we'll be home free. Somehow though, I think I'll be retaining the title of Drill Sergeant for a while.

Get down and give me 10 soldier!

Algebra...what an exciting night! I am teasing. You are such a good mom to take the time and help her many parents do not. Hey, by the way I could use some help in Chemistry as long as you are tutoring.

How'd you like to tackle French - it is killing me quickly. Only Algebra (or any math type homework) would get me quicker.

I've taken to doing homework with my laptop within reach. Those quick Google lookups have saved my bacon more times than I dare admit.

Still nagging you from Michele's this aft.
