Do any of you have problems buying Christmas presents for your kids? The things they want either cost about as much as a mortgage payment, or aren't enough to even put in a stocking. It was much easier when they were young. I need to just go with them to a store, and have them point out ideas to me, or better yet, as they are both excellent surfers, have them give me the link to items they want. Come to think of it, shopping on-line is not a bad idea.

My oldest daughter loves clothes. But she is very picky about what she wears and is difficult to fit because she is tall, and slender, and has a long torso. She loves Pac Sun and Journey, to name a few, but that limits the number of items I could get her because they are more on the expensive side. Truth be told, I'm not sure what all else she wants.

My youngest's ideas for Christmas presents changes about every 15 minutes. It's ok to get clothes, especially if they are pink, but she would rather have toys. Or something related to the Georgia Bulldogs. Of the two, she is probably easier to buy for, but again, she changes her mind so often it is hard to keep up and I generally have to start drinking so I can stay sane.

Both of the girls want Heely's this year. I'm of two minds about this. Obviously, I'm worried about the safety issues. Should I make them wear protective gear? I see alot of kids wearing them in all kinds of places, with no gear at all. I could use this as their "big" gift and that would be a big help. I am having trouble finding them on line (where you can get them at a better price) in my eldest daughter's size. She wears a 9 1/2 - 10 women’s. Yeah, me too.

So there you have it. Does anyone have any ideas?

Sorry, no ideas for you... but do you have any on how to get my hubby to stop buying toys for the boys????

Those "shoes" annoy the crap out of me. They're head injuries waiting to happen, because you have to lean back to get them to work properly. If I had a dollar for every time I saw a teenager wipe out at the mall or almost plow into some hapless person, I'd be rich.

This fad has been around for a while, so I'm hoping it's on the wane. On the plus side, it means prices should begin their inevitable slide soon. Just before they join the growing heap of has-been fashions on the closet floor.

Wow, I'm cynical! Sorry!

Carmi Im with ya, those look dangerous moogie and to be honest I wouldn't let the girls out without some form of safety gear on, just remind them of what happens when they least expect it (otherwise known as the "window" incident)
Yeah well it's getting kinda tricky to buy for the nephew now even with idea, my sister is a godsend sometimes and my nephew the pain, sometimes the otherway around.. I do feel for ya..

Oh, I totally want a pair of Heely's, but they are a little on the insane side. I keep waiting for the mall to ban them...they might be fun, but kids and wheels and crowds aren't the best combo... Still, if my son were still young enough for them, I'd probably get him a pair. And I doubt I'd make him wear safety gear, since he'd likely be wearing them as daily (non school) shoes. A helmet when all you have on is Heely's is just asking to get the snot beat out of you...

My son is 23...very hard to shop for. He's hit the age where he won't admit wanting something, and keeps telling us to take the money and buy stuff for Toys For Tots. Which he means, but I also know somewhere in him is an 8 year old that wants something shiny Christmas morning. But everything shiny for a 23 year old comes with a hefy price tag... so I'm pretty much in the same boat.

Here via Michele's today!

Oh Man Moogs! I guess it gets a lot harder once they've out grown the Cabbage Patch Dolls and My Litttle Ponies. Thoses are still cool right?

But for the record, I think those shoes are so cool. I would LOVE a pair for myself, but I'd be worried about the whole falling while holding my baby thing. Maybe once he's walking? ;-)

I've done practically all my Christmas shopping online this year. Beats the queues!

My two are still young enough that they're easy and cheap to buy for. ;) I dread the days you describe.

I followed you over from Michele's. She says hi!

With the Heely's, try Mervyns, if you have one where you are. They don't have online shopping, but that's where I got a pair for our foster child. And on the plus side, the wheels are removable, so I knew that he was never using them at school, or anywhere I wasn't ok with. Good luck with the rest, we're going through the same issues, ie. everything we've bought already is now off his list!

Speaking of "Heely's", posh London store Harrod's yeah that's right Harrods the one everyone in the world has heard of has been caught selling "well erm gov' I'll do a deal - this lot fell of the back of a lorry - 'damaged stock n all that' *shifty wink* " in other words counterfeit ones.
I read it in the sun newspaper www.the-sun.co.uk it's on there somewhere Im sure they'll keep it live for a few days..

I miss the days when our kids were happy with Wiggles toys. It was so simple then.

Wait, I don't even CELEBRATE Christmas. But Chanukah's been co-opted, too. So there's no escape for me.
