Well, I'm back into the grind. We got home last night safe and sound.

I really wasn't sure if we were every going to leave on Saturday morning. We had quite a bit of storms the week before, and a really big one during the night. We have a wireless fence that keeps the dogs within the boundaries and guess what? It puked.

So, Tiny, our Basenji Cattle dog, beat feet toward the great beyond. I might add that we live in what is known as swampland. Swamps and woods. A dog's paradise no?

Both Mr. Moogie and I took our turns driving around in the car searching for her. You see, there are not allot of fences here, so the places that she could have gone were too numerous to count. I'm talking deep in the woods where there was no real chance we'd be able to spot her unless she came out into the clearing.

Finally, on my shift, I spotted a little black jumping bean cavorting through our neighbor’s side yard. Of course, I was all the way down at the other end of the street. I went from 0-75 in less than 10 seconds. Ask my husband. He saw me. I'm thankful it was still pretty early in the morning because I would have mowed a child down just as sure as God made little green ones.

By the time I'd hopped out of my car and grabbed the "bait" (dog food) she'd disappeared again. I kept calling her name and whistling and finally she came running (somewhat hesitantly) towards me. I have NEVER seen anything so filthy (or so wonderful) in my entire life.

I put her in the front seat to minimize the damage and took off towards home. The passenger side was a wreck. I carried her off to the bathroom she was dripping muddy water (she was soaked) and bathed her off. It took me close to a half an hour to get her clean.

While I was doing that, Mr. Moogie was cleaning my car and finishing up the last of the laundry. We finished packing up and were on our way.

Next up...more on the vacation, with some pictures that I hopefully will be able to post as soon as I get the photo editing software re-installed (I am slowly getting this computer back to where it was before it bit the big one).

Wow, after a start like that, I wouldn't have had the strength to keep going. I would have fallen in a heap and stayed home with chocolate ;)
