I was over at OWW's and found this post about the American Flag.
Very appropriate, don't you think?

Hello Moogie,
How wonderful for you to have stpped by and shame on me for not having been here for so very long.
I am Canadian and we do nto celebrate memorial Day ...however, to me the American flag is the wonderful and symbolic symbol of all that is good in my neighbours to the south.

hey! came via michele's! nice blog!
the american flag? even if i'm not american, the flag usually symbolizes freedom for me...

I don't like that the flag has been used to muster support for an elective war . America has a hard time admiting wrongs and the waving of the American flag doesn't make us right. Symbols shouldn't take the place of discourse etc. Michele sent me. Nice site.

I liked his post. To me, the flag represents that we are free to think, feel, and allocute whatever we believe.

Nice one OWW, he has his uses don't he...
Just like when I see the Saltire - White Cross on a blue background. Makes me feel good inside no actually idea why it's that color.. it just is... Have a good day..

Had no idea that I'd generate any discussion.
Cool!
For Colleen - I'm not a "flag-waver", cloaking myself in patriotism to deny painfull truths. In fact, hauling the painful bits out and examining them is one of the responsibilities of any US citizen. And, in my opinion, the 1st and 2nd Iraq Wars were, and are, perfectly justified by the actions of the dictator Saddam Hussein. By his actions of invading Kuwait, and then not living up to the terms of the cease-fire, by his many instances of mass murder, he was definitely a clear and present danger to his neighbors and to his own countrymen.
For our Candian friends - thank you for the kind words. May we ever be friends and good neighbors.

Well said OWW, I totally agree but we (US & UK) should have kicked his ass right out the 1st time - the french got whiny about it but lets not go there)

Moogie,
I meant to get back to you earlier about posting on my blog--I've been supremely busy and apologize profusely. I do promise to have your questions for you on Friday....in the meantime, I'm just going to check you out on the downlow and get a feel for who you are and what to ask.
Thanks for the comment in my world and the lively writing here in yours.
Cheers,
Chelsea girl

It has many meanings to me, especially after leaving the country for so long and coming back home and seeing a large American Flag waving in the breeze upon my arrivial. It's a beautiful sight!!
And to Chase, it's a life's ambition to make sure every flag is hung appropriately, and in good condition. If he see's one that is tatered and torn, he will stop the car, and fix the problem however need be. That's a whole other post i'll have to write! ha
