I'm glad to see that Christina is suffering right along side me. It seems we have some budding talent on our hands. Well, I can only speak for myself as I have not heard her children sing, but I can well imagine it sounds about the same. And quite often, that is LOUD.
People, I am stupid. At times, I'm overcome with moronic tendencies, but my psychiatrist said that with time, and a full frontal lobotamy, that may pass.
Back to the point. The Karaoke machine. I had only the best of intentions when I bought it for them for Christmas. My eldest is in chorus, and she actually does have a pretty decent voice, or so I've been told. My youngest loves to emulate anything her sister does, so she belts out these songs with a passion (You should hear her sing "Feelings" with Babs. It brings a tear to this old woman's heart I'm telling you, though that may be due to pain.). Of course, the words are from some different form of vocabulary, that until I had children, I'd never been exposed to.
It's difficult not to smile when they want to put on a show for you. Especially when it involves them singing things like "Bad, Bad, LeRoy Brown," "Cornbread and Chicken," or "Rock around the Clock Tonight." The possiblities are endless. My only fault, other than buying the machine in the first place, was to by a rather large abount of Karaoke CDs to go with it.
Well, as Christina says, if you can't beat 'em, join 'em. I think I'll try my hand and Brittney Spears.
Oops I did it again.

I don't have the nerve to sing karioke! I just prefer to sit behind my son's door and listen as he sings his little heart out. It's just so darn precious!

My oldest feels that if she is not singing at the top of her lungs 24 hours a day she is not spreading much needed joy in the world. I, on the other hand, feel I don't need that much joy at 1:30am.

No karaoke machine here, but we do have a tape player with attached microphone that not only amplifies one's voice, but also has the ability to change one's voice into five different types of voices (robot, squirrel, bunny, etc.) So we not only have the joy of hearing the alphabet song broadcast throughout the house for hours at a clip, but we get to hear it a la The Chipmunks and other stranges voices. We're so proud of our daughter. Yes.

You bought your children a karaoke machine? Are you a masochist in hiding? Just remember, silence in a toy is good (as long as the child is in sight), noise is bad. Just repeat that over and over and this won't happen again. *LOL*

We don't have a karaoke machine. We do have a voice-changer megaphone type thing, which my middle son used to terrify people with when they came to the door. He would switch it to the robot mode and then say into the speaker, "Hand over all your money."
It's a very popular toy. I have thought of using it on telemarketers when they call.....

G'Day Moogie, I must admit I love "Karaoke", I cannot sing for "nuts" but hey who cares. The first time I sang "Karaoke" in public, I sang "Ittsy Bittsy little yellow dot bikini", it was a "hoot". I would love to be there Moogie to hear your children do "karaoke", I can just imagine how proud you would be of them.
Now Moogie, Brittney Spears, which song, hey, which song would you sing, ok, here is my choice, I can just imagine you in a red dress singing "OOps...I did it Again". I will sing the first refrain with you, are you ready, here we go
Yeah yeah yeah
Yeah yeah yeah
Yeah yeah yeah
yeah yeah yeah
I think I did it again
I made you believe we're
more than just friends
Oh baby
It might seem like a crush
But it doesn't mean that
I'm serious
Cause to lose all my senses
That is just so typically me
Oh baby, baby
Now over to you Moogie
(Boy that was hard, trying to listen to the words and then write them down)
